AM I IN NEW YORK'S 6TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT?

Short answer: check by your address, not by your neighborhood.

Queens is split across several congressional districts, and the lines run between streets rather than around neighborhoods. It is common for two people who would both say they live in the same part of Queens to be in different districts.

Zip codes do not settle it either. A single zip code in Queens can fall across more than one congressional district, so a zip code lookup will sometimes give you an answer that is close but not correct.

How to check properly

Use the voter lookup at voterlookup.elections.ny.gov and enter your address. It will return your congressional district along with your state senate, assembly and city council districts.

If you are registered to vote, this is also the fastest way to confirm your registration is current.

Neighborhoods in the 6th District

The district takes in Flushing, Forest Hills, Rego Park, Elmhurst, Fresh Meadows, Jackson Heights, Kew Gardens Hills, Bayside, Auburndale, Oakland Gardens, Maspeth, Middle Village and Woodside, along with Briarwood, East Flushing, Electchester, Hillcrest, Hollis Hills, Jamaica Hills, Pomonok, Queensboro Hill, Utopia and Willets Point.

If your address comes back as New York's 6th Congressional District, Joseph Chou is running to represent you.
